Artwork FAQ
Q:What is vector art and bitmap/raster art?
A: Vector art is a scalable art format where the image is made of smooth lines, and can be easily color separated scaled and manipulated.
Raster/bitmap art is made up of tiny dots that form an image such as a photograph; this type of art can not be scaled or manipulated.
Q:How do I know if my art is vector or bitmap?
A:Open your art and zoom way in on it, if you see dots or block your art is bitmapped if it stays smooth and sharp it is vector.
Q: Do I have to pay an art charge for repeat orders where the first order had an art charge?
A: As long as the design does not changes then no.
Q: My .jpeg is high resolution will I have an art charge?
A:Yes, unless your jpeg is 1 color and at least 150 dpi.
Q: what is DPI?
A: Dots per inch, this is how we measure the resolution of an art file, we need at least 150 dpi at the size your design will be printed.
Q: Can I change the DPI of my design in photoshop?
A: No, doing this will not improve the quality of an image, it simply makes more dots and does not increase the quality of the image.
Q: how can I avoid any art charges?
A:By providing the correct file format which is listed to the left.
Q: Can I take my .jpeg file as save it as an .eps or vector format to aviod art charges?
A: No, this does not make the art vector, the only way to make bitmap art vector is to redraw/recreate it in a vector design program.
